VETERANS VS EVERYBODY RECESS

Competition. Camaraderie. Controlled Chaos.

OUR PURPOSE

Veterans spend years being trained to serve, sacrifice, survive, perform, protect, and push through - often putting mission and others before themselves.

But very few spaces are intentionally designed to help veterans simply exhale, reconnect, laugh, play, and feel human again.

Veterans Vs EVERYBODY Recess was created by a combat veteran and retired Marine who understands firsthand the weight veterans carry - because he's lived it.

After years of being taught how to always be ready for others, many veterans are still trying to figure out what it means to slow down, enjoy life, build community, and prioritize themselves again.

This weekend is about reconnecting through camaraderie, competition, laughter, movement, music, and good vibes with people who get it.

THE IMPACT

1. COMBATS ISOLATION

A lot of veterans struggle with isolation after service because they miss:

  • structure

  •  brotherhood/sisterhoo

  • belonging

  • shared identity

Recess recreates that feeling of community in a low-pressure, joyful environment.

2. IMPROVES MENTALWELLNESS THROUGH PLAY

​LGSR already understands something
many wellness organizations miss:

  • Play Is medicine

Games, competition, laughter, movement, music, nature, and social connection help:

  •  reduce stress

  •  lower emotional exhaustion

  •  improve mood

  • encourage social engagement

  • and create emolional release

For veterans especially. joy itself can become therapeutic.

4. BRIDGESVETERANS & CIVILIANS

"Veterans Vs EVERYBODY" creates
playful competition and interaction
between:

  • veterans

  • supporters

  • community members

  • organizations

That helps civilians engage with
veterans in a more authentic, human, and relational way.

Most veteran events focus on:

  • struggle

  • trauma

  • service

This one focuses on:

  • LIFE after service

  • joy after sacrifice

  • community after transition

  • and wellness after survival

That shift matters.

Veterans deserve spaces where they are celebrated as whole people - not only for what they endured.
